Remembering Cecil's Dear Friend General Bill Keys
Everyone at Cecil’s Tractors is deeply saddened by the passing of Lieutenant General William “Bill” Keys, USMC (Ret.), a man whose courage, leadership, and lifetime of service to our nation made him a true American hero. To Cecil personally, Bill was far more than a customer or community figure—he was like a big brother. Cecil loved him as a person and as a man and will miss him dearly. His remarkable life, from earning the Navy Cross for extraordinary heroism in Vietnam to leading Marines through Operation Desert Storm, reflected the same integrity, discipline, and quiet strength he carried into every conversation with Cecil. Even after retiring from a distinguished 34-year military career and leading Colt Defense, he remained humble, kind, and deeply committed to the people around him. Bill’s presence always brought a sense of steadiness and respect, and Cecil is grateful for every moment they shared. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter Lizzie, his family, and all who were shaped by his extraordinary life. May he rest in peace, and may we honor his legacy by living with the same courage and character he exemplified every day.
